SEA has Strong comparative advantages for manufacturers (market access, low labor costs, investment incentives and existing industrial basis). In the meanwhile, Rising wages, unskilled labor force and international completion are the main challenges. Textile and Apparel Industry is developing rapidly in Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Bangladesh, India and other countries in Asia. Cambodia's textile and apparel industry has become a main pillar of its economy. Figures indicate that FDI in this industry reached USD 248 million. Cambodia’s apparel exports are mostly shipped to Western countries, with the European Union (EU) holding the lion’s share (40%), followed by the United States (25%).
